Episode 12: On the Road Again

Hannah Montana is getting ready to leave Boston. She’s trying to get her overstuffed suitcase to close, but it won’t budge. She asks her dad to help and puts some of her things in his suitcases. But he says no way. Roxy opens the door and says that there’s someone who claims to be Maddie from the hotels candy counter. Maddie has stopped by to thank Hannah again for giving her tickets to her concert. Hannah asks Maddie if she can help her get her suitcase closed. Maddie replies that she can’t wait to tell her friends that she got to sit on Hannah Montana suitcase. As they’re trying to get the suitcase shut, Robbie begins singing in the other room. Maddie says that sounds just like someone her mother used to listen to. She remembers he was called the honky-tonk heartthrob and that he had a couple of top 10 singles. Robbie walks in the room and corrects her saying that he actually had three number one songs, two number five’s and music video of the year “But who’s counting!”. A thrilled Maddie says that her mother thought that he was dead and she’ll be so glad to know it he is still alive. Robbie then tries to help the girls close the suitcase. Maddie asks him if he misses singing. He says he does a little bit and Maddie replies that she couldn’t give up something that big. Robbie says that he’s all about managing Hannah Montana’s career now. When he goes to gather the rest of the suitcases, Maddie tells Hannah that she could live with herself if she was the one keeping Robbie from making a comeback. She tells Hannah to buy and leaves her to wonder if she really is holding her father back. If she is holding come back she won’t be for much longer. Back at home, Miley, Lilly, and Jackson look through some of her father’s old concert memorabilia. Lilly comments that before Miley’s dad was her dad he was cool but before Lilly’s dad was her dad he was an accountant. Miley says that Lilly should’ve seen the look on Robbie face when Maddie recognized him. She knows that although he’ll deny,he would really like to be back on stage again. Jackson find a tape called “Robbiepaloosa” and pops it into the VCR. Lilly points out how much talent there is in the Stewart family. Hannah’s a singer, Robbie’s a singer, then Lilly asks Jackson what his talent is. Jackson proceeds to show her what his talent is, making rude noises under his armpit. He also says that when he’s clammy he can do the same thing under his knees and shows them that to. Robbie walks in and sees them watching his old video. Lilly tells them that he was great and asks him what happened. Realizing that she’s just insulted him, she covers by asking why he stopped performing. He says it was because he had to take care of Miley and Jackson. Miley states that both of them are grown now, and he should get back on the road. Robbie tells her that that was 10 years ago and his old man drew probably wouldn’t even remember his name. Just then someone rings the doorbell and yells for Robbie Ray to open the door. Miley comments if that sounds just like Marty Klein, Robbie’s old manager. Jackson and Lilly chime in pretending to be surprised that Marty has shown up. Marty comes in and tells Robbie that he hasn’t changed a bit. He then goes over to Miley and pretends that he hasn’t talked her in years. Robbie says Marty can drop the act he knows the kids called him. Marty is relieved because he states that he is a terrible liar. Marty announces that he booked Robbie a gig at the Roadhouse in San Diego for a week. Robbie says he’s not sure that he wants to do it. Marty reminds him that the only reason why he walked away from the music business was because his children were little. But now they’re almost grown. Jackson and Miley encouraged him to take the gig. Robbie says he will think about it. Miley doesn’t understand why he won’t agree to it, but Robbie says he’s been off stage so long he would be from what to do. Later that day, Robbie is practicing his guitar on the porch. Miley comes out and asked him how he can keep his talent hidden for the rest the world and that is extremely selfish of him to do so. Robbie says that even if he considered it he couldn’t take the kids with him and he certainly could leave them home alone for week. Jackson walks in and says the he won’t have to leave them alone. He’s done a little research and found someone to take care of them. He says he contacted the International House of Nannies and they sent over a gorgeous looking Swedish woman named Inga. Robbie appreciates Jackson trying, but says he cannot leave the young woman alone to babysit them. Jackson figured he would say that and brings out Inga’s two sisters. Robbie thinks the women for coming, but says that this is isn’t going to work out. He thanks them for coming in Swedish. Miley surprised that he knows how to speak Swedish. He says that he was very popular in Sweden. Inga suddenly recognizes Robbie. She and her sisters are very happy to have met him. Miley berate Jackson saying she only asked him to get one thing (Which was a nanny). He says he did, not only did he get one but he brought home three. Jackson asks the girls if they would like to go boogie boarding with the son of the honky-tonk heartthrob. The three girls agree and they hit the beach. Miley follows her dad in the house and tells him that she doesn’t understand why he doesn’t want to go back on stage. She asks if he likes the feeling of being onstage performing and he says of course he does but he has his reasons. Miley says that but is just a word to use when you’re free to try and she tells him that he was the one who said that. Robbie says that now she decides to listen to him. He tells her that he did try to find someone to watch them but he couldn’t find anyone he trusts enough. Miley asks if she found someone it he could trust would he go. Robbie says sure he would go, but is on the cards. Miley tells him shuffle them again, because she has a backup plan. She opens the front door and in walks Roxy. A few days later, writer appears to leave for his gig. He tells the kids that he will see them at the end of the week when they come see his last show. Jackson and Miley wish them luck until him to have a great time. Marty arrives to pick Robbie up. He tells them he hates to interruption there heartwarming scene, but his cars running and gas costs three dollars a gallon. Robbie leaves and Miley tows Jackson that she can’t believe it will seem for a want her week. Jackson Jackson says these heartbroken, pauses, and then says he’s over it. Jackson prepares to leave for Cooper’s party and Miley asks if he will drop her off at Lilly’s. Roxy stops them at the door and says that since Robbie left her in charge they are not leaving her sight until he comes home. Jackson wonders what she means by that. They both find out that night when when Roxy makes the three of them sleep on the couch pullout bed so that they can even move without her knowing about it. When they try to get out of bed Roxie grabs them in her sleep and pulls the two back into the bed. She tells them though her eyes are closed her mind is on red alert. When they finally get sleep, Roxy wakes them up by blowing a trumpet. She tells Miley and Jackson you’re going for a run on the beach. Later that day, Julie Cox Jackson while he’s at work. She asks them how his pants to worse going and if he’s having fun. When Jackson doesn’t answer her back she takes up some last sees wearing a realizes he’s asleep. She puts another pair of glasses on and tries lipstick on his face. Jackson wakes up and warned her not think about it. Miley is telling Oliver about her and Jackson’s evening. Oliver asks her if she could just tell Roxy to lighten up. Miley says that she can’t do that because if she did he could upset Roxy causing her to leave. Then Robbie would have to come home early and Miley would’ve ruined his dream yet again. Oliver wonders why Miley’s whispering. Miley tells them that they have to be quiet because Roxy’s watching them. When he says she’s just paranoid, Miley says she can prove it. She tells Oliver to hit her with a magazine. She says not to worry about hurting her, she’ll be just fine. Oliver picks up the magazine and tries to take a swing, but Roxy grabs him and toss them across the beach. Back at the house, Roxy has Miley and Jackson doing yoga. Jackson tells Miley that he doesn’t think he can make it much longer. Miley says they have to and it’s only going to be for five more days. Miley mentions to Roxy that she didn’t think Marines did yoga. Roxy says she learned it when she was Yo-Yo Ma’s bodyguard. The doorbell rings and Jackson goes to answer it. Some friends of Jackson’s have stopped by and ask him if wants to go to a movie. Jackson eagerly agrees, but Roxy stops him and asks where he thinks he’s going. He says he’s just going to the movies with his friends. Roxy says she understands that it’s Saturday and he just wants to have some fun and she says she’s not going to stop them. Roxy’s tells them she just needs a moment to grab her purse and Miley so they can all hang out together. Both Jackson and Miley try to convince her to let him go by himself, but Roxy says she has to watch them both and she can’t do it if they are in separate places. She tells him that the only thing she wants is an aisle seat because she likes the large drinks, but the large drinks don’t like her. Freaked out, Jackson’s friends going excuse to leave. Jackson angrily tells Roxy pass he can’t believe she did that to him. Roxy believes is because the yoga didn’t work for him and she runs to get her acupuncture needles. Jackson tells Miley the he’s going San Diego to get Robbie to come home. Miley runs after him and begs him not to go. She says that she misses the way that Robbie sings to them when he’s making breakfast, and how happy he is when they come home from school. Jackson tells her that’s why he’s going after Robbie. Miley says it’s not about what they want, it’s about what Robbie wants for change. Jackson refuses to listen to her and heads off. Roxy tells Miley if they’re going after him. In San Diego, Miley and Roxy catch up to Jackson at the Roadhouse. They ask him if he’s talked to Robbie yet, but he says that Robbie’s in the middle of his concert. As they watch them onstage, Jackson and Miley realize how good he really is. After the concert Miley and Jackson had Robbie’s dressing room. Their fathers surprised to see them so early and wants to know if everything is OK. Jackson is about to tell him the truth, but instead he tells Robbie be just couldn’t wait to be in the week to see him sing. Robbie says he wouldn’t have been back on stage if it hadn’t been for the kids support. Marty comes in and tells Robbie that Toby Keith wants Robbie for his opening act. Marty says that Robbie would be gone for six weeks and that one of those weeks would be in Hawaii. Jackson and Miley try to pretend that they’re happy, but Miley cracks and runs from the room. Robbie runs after her and Roxy tells Jackson that they both must love Robbie an awful lot to be willing to go through six weeks of “Roxy time”. When it suddenly dawned on Jackson how long the tour will be, he hugs her Roxy and starts to cry. Robbie catches up to Miley and she apologizes. He tells her that if she doesn’t want him to go all she has to do is ask not to leave. Miley says that she can do that, because he gave up his dream so she could have hers. Robbie tells her that he didn’t give up singing because he had to, it was because he wanted to. Miley says that she saw them up on stage is on happy he was, but Robbie says he was even happier to see them come through the door. Miley asks if this means he doesn’t want to do to her anymore. He says he doesn’t think he could take being away from his kids for six weeks. Miley tells him that he could still do a week in Hawaii, but just take her and Jackson instead. Suddenly, Maddie bursts in the club. She yells for her mother to get the curlers out of her hair, because Robbie Ray is still there. Maddie runs over to Robbie, but Roxy jumps out and tells her she’s too close. Maddie runs away screaming with Roxy chasing after her. Before they leave the club, Jackson, Miley, and Robbie put on mullet wigs and get on the stage. Robbie and Miley played their guitars and begin to sing Robbie’s song “I want my mullet back” with Jackson accompanying them by making noises with his armpit and knee.
